The world can avoid millions going hungry when supply chains collapse by having extra food ready to go and people who know how to share it.
Imagine you have a big lunchbox full of sandwiches, fruits, and snacks, that’s like the food supplies we usually get from stores and farms. Now imagine one day your lunchbox gets stuck in traffic and can’t arrive on time, that’s like a supply chain collapse. You might not have food for lunch or dinner.
But if you also had a small backpack with extra snacks tucked under your chair, you’d still be fine. That’s like having emergency food supplies stored away.
Also, if your teacher and classmates knew you were hungry, they could help, maybe by sharing their own snacks or making more food together. That’s like having people who work together to share food when things get tough.
So, if we keep extra food ready and know how to help each other, even if the big lunchbox gets stuck in traffic, we’ll still have enough to eat!
Examples
- Farms produce enough food, but it can’t get to people because trucks broke down.
