The Roman Republic turned into the Roman Empire because one leader became too powerful, like when a kid becomes the boss of a playground and doesn’t want to share.
At first, Rome was like a group project, everyone had a say, with two main leaders called consuls. It worked well, kind of like how you and your best friend take turns being in charge during game time.
But over time, some people wanted more power. A leader named Julius Caesar became really popular, like the most famous kid at school. He had armies, money, and friends who helped him win battles. When he came back to Rome after a big victory, it was like coming back from a super-cool field trip, everyone cheered for him.
But Julius Caesar got too powerful, and some people were worried. They tried to stop him, but he didn’t listen. Soon after, he was killed by friends who thought they were helping.
After that, his nephew, Augustus, took over and made himself the emperor, like the official boss of Rome. He ruled with power and peace, starting a new era called the Roman Empire. That’s how Rome went from a group project to a kingdom run by one person.
