How It Began
Imagine the ocean is like a big bowl of soup, and way below that, there’s something hot like a stove burner, this is called magma. This hot magma starts to rise up through cracks in the Earth's floor, which is kind of like the bottom of the bowl. When it reaches the top of the soup, it cools down and hardens into rock, this is how the first island was made.
How Islands Grew
Now imagine a plate moving slowly, like a conveyor belt at a bakery. As the plate moves, new magma keeps coming up to make more islands one after another, just like how cookies are added in a row on a tray. Over millions of years, these islands get bigger and form an amazing chain, that’s Hawaii!
So, even though it feels like magic, it's really just the Earth cooking up a special treat, islands in the middle of the ocean! 🌊🌋
