How Tall Can Mountains Get?

Mountains are like really big piles of dirt and rock that got pushed up by the Earth’s powerful movements.

Imagine you're stacking blocks to make a tower, the more blocks you add, the taller your tower gets. Mountains work kind of like that. The Earth's crust is like the blocks, and when parts of it push against each other, they rise up, forming mountains.

Why Some Mountains Are Taller Than Others

Sometimes, two pieces of Earth’s crust crash into each other, like a big collision between two giant puzzle pieces. This can make mountains get super tall, like the Himalayas, which are still growing today!

But there's a limit, just like your tower of blocks. If you stack too many blocks on top, they might fall over. Mountains can't grow forever because the weight and pressure from being so high can cause them to sink or break.

So, mountains are like giant towers, they get really tall when parts of Earth move together, but there's a point where they just can’t go any higher without falling apart!
