Imagine you're eating candy all day until your tummy gets really, really full. That’s what happens to some stars, they keep eating stuff from around them, getting too heavy. One day, the star can’t hold it in anymore and bursts, sending everything flying out like a confetti cannon.

Now imagine you're playing outside on a really cold day. You shiver so much that you can't stay awake. That’s what happens to some stars, they get so cold, their hearts stop beating, and they collapse all at once. This collapse makes everything around them super hot and bright, like turning on a flashlight in the dark.
When a Star Gets Help from a Friend
Some stars have a best friend called a white dwarf. They hang out together until the star gives the white dwarf too much candy, the white dwarf gets so full it explodes, taking its friend with it.
When Two Stars Get Angry
Finally, sometimes two stars get angry and crash into each other like cars in a race. The collision makes them explode together, lighting up the sky like fireworks on New Year’s Eve!
