How Sleep Cycles Work
During one full sleep cycle, your brain starts off relaxed, then gets deeper and deeper into sleep, like going from a slow walk to a deep jump. After that, it wakes up for a little bit before starting the next cycle.
Each night, you usually go through 4, 5 of these cycles, like playing a few rounds of a game before bedtime.
Why Sleep Cycles Help Your Brain
Your brain uses sleep time to clean out the junk it collected during the day, like when you finish your toys and put them away. It also helps it rest and get ready for more fun tomorrow, just like how you feel refreshed after a good nap.
Without enough sleep cycles, your brain can feel tired and foggy, like trying to play with messy toys all day long!
