How It Works
Each party has members, like kids in different teams, who vote for their favorite candidate. These votes happen in special events called primaries, where people pick the best person from their team to be on the ballot.
Sometimes, the voting is like a race, if one person gets more votes than others, they win and become the party's choice. But sometimes it takes longer, and they have another vote, this is like going into overtime in a game.
The Big Show
After all the voting, each party picks their favorite candidate, and that person becomes the presidential nominee, the one who will go on to be picked by everyone else in the country. It's like choosing your team’s best player for a big match!
Examples
- A group of people in a party vote for their favorite candidate to be on the ballot.
- The person with the most votes gets to represent the party in the big election.
- Sometimes, they use special votes from different states.
