How pandemics end - 6 Minute English?

A pandemic ends when most people get better or stop getting sick, and the virus doesn’t spread as much anymore.

Imagine you're in a big playground with all your friends, and suddenly everyone starts coughing and sneezing, that’s like a pandemic. Now imagine that one by one, your friends start feeling better and go home, so there are fewer people coughing around you. Soon, the whole playground is quiet again, that's how a pandemic ends.

How it works

When most people get sick or get vaccinated, they can't spread the virus as much. It's like when someone covers their mouth before sneezing, they stop passing germs to others.

Sometimes, a new virus comes along and replaces the old one, like switching from a toy car to a robot, the old one is no longer the main thing people are playing with.

Other times, the virus just becomes less strong over time, like how your favorite ice cream melts slower on a cold day than on a hot day. People get sick less often, and life goes back to normal, just like when you finish playing and it's time for dinner.
