Menstruation is your body’s way of getting ready for a baby, without needing to know anything about it!
Every month, your body goes through a cycle, like a fun game that happens inside you. It starts with a special room in your pelvis (that’s down near your hips), called the uterus, which is like a little house that gets ready for a baby.
The Uterus Gets Ready
The Uterus Says Goodbye
If no baby comes, the body says “Okay, let’s start over.” The thick layer in the uterus gets pushed out through the vagina, like when you push out something you don’t need anymore. That’s what you feel as your period, and it happens every month or so!
It's just your body doing its job, kind of like how your favorite toy might need a little cleaning now and then! Menstruation is your body’s way of getting ready for a baby, without needing to know anything about it!

The Uterus Gets Ready
Inside the uterus, there are soft, spongy layers called the endometrium. These layers get thicker and softer, kind of like when you put extra pillows on your bed to make it more comfortable. This is because your body thinks maybe a baby might come soon!
