Humans are making pandemics more likely by doing things that spread germs faster than before.
Imagine your toy box is a giant germ box, and every time you share toys with friends, the germs jump from one person to another. That’s kind of like what happens during a pandemic, but instead of toy boxes, it’s whole cities or even countries!
Germs Travel Faster
Before, when people lived in small groups and didn’t travel much, germs had to move slowly from person to person. But now, with planes, trains, and cars, we can go from one end of the world to another in just a few hours. That means if someone gets sick in one country, they could make lots of other people sick very quickly, like a germ speedboat.
We Share More Than Toys
Also, humans now share more than toys, we share food, water, and even air through big buildings like schools or offices. Germs can hide on surfaces, then jump to your hands when you touch them. Then they go into your mouth or nose, and poof, you're part of the germ team too!
It's like everyone is playing a giant game of tag with germs, and we're giving them superpowers!
