How Hackers Sneak In
Imagine you have a secret code to open the treasure box at recess, and hackers want that code. They might hide in the bushes and watch you type it in, that's eavesdropping.
Or they might give you a fake candy bar and ask for your code when you bite into it, that’s phishing.
Sometimes, they find a broken lock on the treasure box and fix it so they can open it too, that’s exploiting weaknesses.
They could even trick the treasure box into thinking they are you, like wearing a disguise, that's impersonation.
And if they get inside the treasure box, they might take your code while you're not looking, that’s password stealing from inside.
Each trick is like a different game in the playground. Hackers play all of them to steal passwords and get what they want!
Examples
- Using a brute force attack, hackers try every possible combination of letters until they find the right one.
- A keylogger is like a hidden camera that records your keystrokes without you knowing.
