How Gibraltar Became British?

Gibraltar became British because a big country decided to take over a small rock that was already being used by another country.

Gibraltar is like a tiny island, it’s just a big rock sticking out of the sea, and people live on it. A long time ago, Spain used to own Gibraltar, kind of like how you might have your favorite toy.

One day, in 1704, a group of soldiers from Britain came by boat and said, “We want this rock!” They were fighting in a big argument with Spain, sort of like when two kids disagree about who gets to play with the toy first. Britain took over Gibraltar during this fight.

But Spain didn’t give up easily. For many years, they tried to get Gibraltar back, just like how you might try to take your toy back from your friend.

Eventually, Britain kept Gibraltar, and it stayed British ever since, kind of like when a kid finally wins the toy and gets to keep it forever!
