How Eggs Are Made?

Eggs are made when a chicken does something special inside its body, kind of like making a little package.

Inside the Chicken's Body

A chicken has a special place in its body called an ovary, and it’s full of tiny eggs waiting to be made. When it's time, one of these tiny eggs moves down a tube called the oviduct, kind of like going on a little journey.

As it travels, the egg gets covered with something soft and sticky, like when you dip your finger in syrup and then touch paper, that’s how the shell membrane forms around the egg. Then, the chicken adds a hard outer layer called the shell, which is like wearing a special armor.

The Final Touch

After all this, the egg goes into a little pocket inside the chicken's body called the cloaca, and then it comes out, poof!, just like when you blow up a balloon and let go. That’s how an egg is made!

Sometimes, chickens make more than one egg in a day, kind of like how you can draw two pictures on a piece of paper without erasing the first one. Eggs are made when a chicken does something special inside its body, kind of like making a little package.
