How Does Warming oceans: How it happens Work?

Warming oceans are like a bathtub that gets hotter when you turn up the water heater.

When the Earth gets warmer, maybe because we burn coal or gas, like when we light a fire, the sun sends more heat to our planet. Some of that heat goes into the oceans, just like how hot water from the tap makes your bathwater warm.

How it feels underwater

Imagine you're swimming in a pool on a cold day, it's chilly. Now imagine the sun is shining really hard, and the water gets warmer, almost like a hug. That’s what happens to the oceans, they get warmer because of all that extra heat from the Earth.

The ocean keeps getting warmer

It’s like when you leave your soda in the sun, it starts to fizz more and gets warmer. The same thing is happening with the oceans. They’re absorbing all that extra heat, so the whole ocean feels warmer over time, just like how your soda tastes warmer after being in the sun.

That’s why we say “warming oceans”, they're getting warmer because of the extra heat from our planet!
