How Tongue Disorders Happen
Sometimes, your tongue gets stuck, maybe because of a bandage or something that wraps around it, like when you have a big boo-boo on your mouth. Other times, it might be tired, like after playing all day, and then it can't move as well.
How We Help the Tongue
Doctors and speech teachers help by doing fun exercises, like moving your tongue up and down or side to side, just like you might play with a toy car on a track. They might also use special tools that feel soft and friendly, like a warm blanket for your tongue.
Sometimes they give you something cool to chew on, like a rubbery fruit, so your tongue can practice being strong again.
It's all about helping the tongue get unstuck or rested, just like giving a tired arm a little break.
