Travel more and buy less is like having a big toy box that you fill with new toys every time you go on an adventure, but instead of buying all the toys right away, you just take one special toy home with you each time.
Luis Vargas, in his talk at TEDxPortland, shows how going on trips helps people learn and grow, while not spending a lot of money. It’s like going to the park every day, sometimes you play on the swings, sometimes you run around, and sometimes you just sit and watch the clouds. Each time you go, you have new experiences that help you become smarter or happier.
Why it works
When you travel more, you get to meet new people, try new food, and see different places. It's like having a big map with lots of exciting spots, every trip takes you to one spot on the map. But instead of buying all the toys at once, you just pick your favorite toy from each adventure.
If you buy less, it means you save money for more adventures later, kind of like saving up your allowance to buy that special candy you really want.
