How It Works
Imagine you're playing with clay. If you squish it, stretch it, and sometimes even cook it in an oven, it can turn into different shapes. That's kind of what happens underground, the Earth gets hot and pushes rocks around, making them rise up like mountains or twist together like a tangled rope.
Some places have rocky pillars that look like giant toothpicks sticking out from the ground. These happen when water freezes and thaws over and over again, slowly chipping away at the rock until only strong parts are left, just like how ice can chip away at a sidewalk after many cold winters.
Other spots have caves that look like underground castles, made by water dripping for thousands of years, it's like when you drip water on a cake and it makes little holes.
