We can't live forever because our bodies slowly wear out over time, just like a toy that gets used every day.
Imagine your body is like a toy car, you play with it, push it, and sometimes it goes off the road. Every time you grow older, it's like you're playing with the car more and more. The wheels get loose, the paint chips off, and one day, the car just stops working. That’s what happens to our bodies: cells, tiny workers inside us, start to make mistakes or stop doing their jobs as well.
Why We Get Tired
Your body has a lot of parts that need to work together. When you're little, everything is new and shiny. But over time, those parts get used up. You might get tired faster, or your hair turns white, it's like the toy car getting old and slower.
Why We Can't Live Forever
Even though we try to take care of our bodies, there are limits. Every person has a number of times their cells can do their job before they stop. It’s kind of like how a light bulb only lasts for so many on-and-off cycles before it burns out.
So even if you're the most careful toy car driver in the world, eventually, your toy car, and your body, will stop working, too.
Examples
- A child's cells divide easily, but as a person ages, their cells can't keep dividing forever.
- Imagine your body like a clock, it ticks slower as you get older.
- Your skin loses elasticity because of the way your cells behave over time.
