The medieval flat Earth myth is like thinking your whole playground is just one big sandbox, you don’t know there's more beyond it.
People back then thought the Earth was flat because that’s what they could see. Imagine standing in a big field, looking out as far as you can, everything looks flat! They didn’t have airplanes or satellites to show them the whole planet. So they believed the Earth was like a giant flat disk, with maybe some edges or even a wall around it.
Why Did People Think That?
They used simple tools and observations, like watching ships disappear over the horizon, one part at a time, as if the Earth were bending underneath them. But without modern tech, those clues weren’t obvious to everyone.
Also, some important people said the Earth was flat, and others believed them. It’s like when your favorite teacher says something is true, you’re more likely to believe it!
But not everyone agreed! Some smart thinkers knew the Earth was round, even back then, they just didn’t always get to be heard.
