The Dutch and the Treehouse
The Dutch built houses, markets, and even a fort, like building blocks for their toy box. But then came the English, who wanted that treehouse too. They took over New Amsterdam and renamed it New York, after the king of England’s brother, just like how you might name your favorite toy after your best friend.
The Big City Grows
Over time, people from all around the world came to live in New York, like friends coming over to join your treehouse party. They brought different foods, languages, and ways of playing. This made New York become a huge, busy city with lots of stories to tell.
So now, when you hear about the history of New York, it’s like hearing how your favorite toy box grew from a small treehouse into the biggest playroom in town!
