The Global Village is like a big neighborhood where everyone can talk to each other instantly, no matter how far apart they are.
Imagine you have a toy phone that lets you call your best friend across the room, but now imagine that same phone could let you talk to someone on the other side of the world. That’s what Marshal McLuhan meant by the Global Village. He said that media, like television, radio, and later the internet, make it so people all over the Earth can share ideas, news, and stories in real time.
How It Works Like a Playground
Think of the whole world as one big playground. Before, if you wanted to know what was happening in another country, you had to wait for a letter or a newspaper, like waiting for your mom to bring you an ice cream cone from the store. But with media, it’s like having a walkie-talkie that lets everyone on the playground hear each other at once.
So, Marshal McLuhan said we live in a Global Village because technology brings people together, just like friends playing together in one big backyard, even if they’re all over the world!
Examples

- Television making people feel connected no matter where they are.
