Why Maps Get Messed Up
When people first tried to make maps of the whole world, they used a flat piece of paper to show something that's really curved, like trying to draw an orange on a piece of paper without squishing it! This is called map projection, and it’s like when you try to fit a round ball into a square box. Some parts get stretched out, others shrink, just like if you tried to wrap a gift with a too-small piece of paper!
Kayla Wolf's Big Mistake
Kayla Wolf made one of the biggest map mistakes ever by drawing the world as if it were flat instead of round. It was like pretending your bedroom floor is actually the surface of Earth! Her map looked nice, but it didn’t match how things really are, and that’s why it became famous for being so wrong, yet so fun to learn from!
