Superbugs are germs that have become really tough to beat because they’ve learned how to fight back against medicine.

Imagine you’re playing a game of tag with your friend. At first, you can catch them easily. But then your friend gets faster and stronger, now it’s much harder to catch them. That’s like what happens with superbugs: medicine used to work really well, but now some germs have become so strong that the medicine doesn’t work anymore.

Superbugs are everywhere, in hospitals, schools, even on your toy. When someone is sick and takes medicine, most of the germs go away. But some germs hide and come back stronger than before. They can spread to other people like a virus, making them sick too.

Doctors used to be able to cure most infections with medicine, but now they have to use different kinds or even stronger ones. If superbugs keep growing, one day doctors might not have any medicine left that can beat them, and that could mean people get really sick or even die.
