How Does Storing Food Safely Work?

Storing food safely is like giving it a cozy blanket and a good night’s sleep so it stays happy and doesn’t turn sour or go bad.

Food needs to be kept in places where it can stay fresh, just like how you feel better when you’re not cold or tired. When we put food in the refrigerator, it’s like sending it to a cool hotel, the fridge keeps it from getting too hot and makes bacteria (tiny, sneaky guests) slow down.

Freezing is even more powerful. It's like putting your favorite snack in a deep freeze, you can’t even see it moving! When food is frozen, time slows way down, so it stays almost as good as the day you bought it.

Sometimes we use containers, which are like little houses for food. They keep things from getting mixed up and stop air from making them go bad faster.

If you leave food out on the counter too long, it’s like leaving a cake in the sun, it gets warm, and soon, yucky bits start growing on top.

So whether you're using a fridge, freezer, or container, you’re helping your food stay happy and healthy for longer!
