How Does Stories and Why We Love Them Work?

Stories are like fun games we play in our minds, and that’s why we love them so much.

Imagine you have a favorite toy, maybe it's a teddy bear or a race car. When you tell a story about your toy going on an adventure, your brain feels excited, just like when you’re playing with it. Stories do the same thing but for imaginary friends and places we can’t touch.

Stories help us understand life better, kind of like how practicing math helps you get better at solving problems. When you hear a story about someone who works hard and then gets what they want, it makes you feel happy and inspired. It's like seeing your favorite character win the race in your head!
