How Does Sleep Is Your Superpower | Matt Walker | TED Work?

Sleep is your superpower that helps you grow strong and smart during the day.

Imagine your brain is like a toy box, when you're awake, you play with all your toys (like thinking, learning, and remembering). But when it’s time to sleep, your brain puts away the toys and starts cleaning up, fixing any messes, and getting ready for tomorrow.

While you’re sleeping, your body does some really important work. It helps your brain remember what you learned during the day. It also grows your muscles and fixes your body so you can play harder the next day.

Why Sleep Is Like a Secret Helper

Think of sleep as having a secret helper who works while you're fast asleep. This helper does things like:

  • Fixing your brain so you don’t forget your favorite song
  • Making sure your body has enough energy for your next adventure
  • Tidying up the parts of your brain that got messy from playing all day

Without this secret helper, you might feel tired, grumpy, or even forget what you were supposed to do. But with enough sleep, you become a super strong and smart kid, just like a superhero!
