Rich countries have lots of money and things, while poor countries have less. It's like having a big toy box versus a small one, one has all the newest toys, and the other only has a few old ones.
Why Some Countries Are Richer
Imagine two kids who both want to grow up to be chefs. One kid lives in a house with a kitchen, lots of food, and even a fridge full of treats. The other kid lives in a tiny apartment with just a stove and a few cans of soup. The first kid has more chances to learn and cook, that’s like having a head start.
Rich countries are like the first kid: they have more tools, better schools, and even cleaner air. Poor countries are like the second kid: they might not have all these things, so it's harder for them to grow up and be successful.
The Cycle of Richness
Once a country is rich, it can keep getting richer, like how you can buy more toys with your allowance. But if a country is poor, it’s harder to get out of poverty, like trying to climb a mountain with no shoes on.
So the rich get richer, and the poor stay poor, but it's not magic! It's just a lot of small differences adding up over time.
