The reproductive system is like a special team that helps make new people by joining together parts from two parents.
How Fertilization Works
Imagine you have a sperm, which is like a tiny superhero that lives in the testes, the male's special egg factory. The sperm needs to go on a journey to meet an egg, which lives in the ovaries, the female’s special egg home.
When the egg and sperm finally meet, it's like they give each other a big hug and join together to make something new, a zygote, which is the very beginning of a baby!
This joining together is called fertilization, and it happens in a special place called the fallopian tube, where the egg usually lives while waiting for its hero.
Once they're joined, the zygote starts to travel down to the uterus, where it will grow into a baby, just like a seed growing into a plant!
