How the Monkeys Move
Imagine you’re playing with building blocks. If Tico stands up tall, he’s like a tower of 10 blocks. If Mario crouches down low, he’s like only 5 blocks high. That means Tico is longer than Mario, just like how a taller tower has more blocks.
Now imagine they both jump. When Tico jumps, he goes up higher, that's longer in the air. When Mario jumps, he doesn’t go as high, that's shorter in the air.
How We Learn with Them
When you see Tico and Mario move, you can compare them like comparing your toys. If Tico is standing up and Mario is sitting down, you know Tico is longer, and Mario is shorter. It's just like when you line up with your friends, the one who stands tall is longer, and the one who sits low is shorter.
You don’t need magic, just watch how they move, and you’ll know which one is longer or shorter! There are two monkeys, Tico and Mario, who help explain longer and shorter using their movements.
Examples
- Tico shows Mario a longer stick to reach a banana.
- Mario uses a shorter path to avoid a predator.
- They compare the length of two vines to decide which one is better.
