How does light reach us?

Light reaches us by travelling through space and hitting our eyes. It's like when you shine a flashlight in a dark room, the light goes from the flashlight to your eyes, and that’s how you can see.

Like a Message in the Sky

Imagine you're sending a message across a big playground. You write it on a paper airplane and throw it into the air. The airplane flies through the sky and lands in someone else's hands, they read the message and know what you wrote. Light is like that paper airplane!

The Sun sends out light, like you throwing the airplane. That light travels all the way to Earth, sometimes it takes a little time, just like your message might take a while to reach the other side of the playground. When the light gets to us, it goes into our eyes, and poof, we can see things!

Light Can Travel Far

Even when you're far away from the Sun, like on another planet or in space, the light still comes to you. It’s just like how your friend can still read your message even if they’re on the other side of the playground, as long as the airplane (or the light) makes it there!
