Imagine your bedroom is lit up like a lighthouse, you can’t see anything outside the window. That’s what happens to the night sky when there’s too much light pollution. Cities shine so brightly that they cover up the stars, making it hard for people to enjoy the beauty of the night. When we add more lights, especially at night, we make this problem worse.
Examples
- A streetlamp shining on the side of a building can hide stars from view.
- The lights from a city make it hard to see the Moon in the sky.
- If you sleep with a lamp on, you might not notice how bright the night is outside.
