How Does Key Query Value Attention Explained Work?

Key Query Value Attention is like having a group of friends who help you pick out your favorite toy from a big pile.

Imagine you're in a toy store with a bunch of toys, some are shiny, some are broken, and most are just okay. You want to find the best one. Your friends each have their own way of deciding what's good. One friend looks at how colorful the toy is (the Query), another checks if it works well (the Key), and a third holds up the toys so you can see them clearly (the Value).

Each friend gives you a rating based on their favorite thing. Then, you add all those ratings together to decide which toy is the best, that’s Attention.

Now imagine each toy has friends too! Each toy has its own group of friends who help it pick out its favorite part. That's how Key Query Value Attention works in computers: it helps them focus on what's most important by using special helpers called Queries, Keys, and Values.
