In Minecraft, item durability and armor durability are like how many times you can use a toy before it breaks.
Imagine you have a wooden sword, it’s strong enough to fight monsters, but after fighting several of them, the blade gets worn down. That's durability, every time you hit something with your sword or take damage while wearing armor, it loses a little bit of its strength. Once it runs out, the sword breaks and you can't use it anymore unless you fix it.
How Durability Works
Every item and piece of armor in Minecraft has a maximum durability number, think of it like how many times you can swing your toy before it breaks. For example, a wooden sword starts with 59 durability points, and every time you hit something, it loses some of those points.
When you wear armor, it helps protect you from taking damage. But just like the sword, each piece of armor also has its own durability, if it gets too worn down, it stops protecting you as well.
You can fix broken items or repair damaged armor by using repair tools or materials, which is like giving your toy a new coat of paint so it can keep playing.
Examples
- A sword lasts for 10 hits before breaking.
- Armor loses durability when you take damage.
