How the Gymnasts Work
When you talk or sing, these gymnasts do different things:
- Some stretch to make your voice higher, like stretching a rubber band.
- Others squeeze to make your voice lower, like pushing down on a spring.
These muscles are called muscle actions of the larynx. They help change how your voice sounds, just like adjusting the tightness of a guitar string changes the note it plays.
You might not see them, but they're working hard every time you say hello or laugh with your friends!
Examples
- When you shout, your larynx muscles tighten up.
