I went to the Actual South Pole because it’s the farthest point from anywhere else on Earth, like being the last kid in line at recess.
The South Pole is a special place where all the lines of longitude meet, just like how your fingers meet at the tip of your hand. It's super cold and has no cities or roads, only snow and ice. Nobody goes there because it’s so far away and really hard to get to, kind of like trying to visit someone who lives on the other side of the world.
How I Got There
I took a plane that flew over the ocean for a long time, like riding in a car for many hours but way up high. Then I rode on a special vehicle called a snowmobile across the ice, it’s like driving on really smooth, white sand.
When I got to the South Pole, I stood exactly where the lines of longitude meet, and that made me the farthest person from anywhere else in the whole world! It felt like being the center of a giant spinning toy.
