How does gravity work to keep us on the Earth?

Gravity is like an invisible hug that keeps us on Earth.

Imagine you're holding a ball. When you let go, it falls to the ground, that’s gravity in action! Just like the ball is pulled toward the Earth, we are also pulled toward the Earth because of gravity.

What Is Gravity?

Gravity is a force, kind of like a gentle push or pull. The Earth is very big and heavy, so it has a strong gravitational pull. Everything around us, people, animals, even birds, feels this pull and stays close to the ground.

Why We Don’t Float Away

Think of gravity as a really strong magnet inside the Earth. It pulls everything toward the center of the Earth, just like how a magnet pulls paper clips. Even though we can jump up in the air, gravity always brings us back down, it’s like a game of catch with the Earth!

Without gravity, we’d all float away into space! But because gravity is always there, we stay grounded and can play, run, and explore without worrying about floating off.
