How Does First Image of a Black Hole! Work?

We took a picture of a black hole using light from far away, just like we take pictures of things we can see every day.

A black hole is super strong, like the strongest magnet you've ever seen, but instead of pulling paper clips, it pulls in light. That means we can’t see it directly, because light can't escape from it.

But there’s something around it, a glowing ring called the event horizon. Think of it like the edge of a whirlpool. When you look at the water spinning around the drain, that's what we're seeing: light circling the black hole before it disappears.

To take the picture, scientists used a special camera made up of many telescopes all over the world, kind of like a giant eye looking up at the sky. They worked together to snap a photo of the glowing ring around the black hole.

It's like having lots of friends with flashlights pointing at something in the dark, you can see the light, even if the thing in the dark is invisible.

And that’s how we got our first picture of a black hole!
