Imagine you're at a toy store, and the first toy you pick up is the one you get to play with first, that's how FIFO works!
FIFO stands for First In, First Out, which means the items that go into your inventory first are the ones that come out first. It’s like a line at the park: the person who gets in line first is the one who gets to ride the swing first.
Like a Toy Box
Think of your toy box as an inventory. When you get new toys, you put them on top. When you want to play, you take the toys from the top, the ones that were added first. That’s FIFO in action!
If you have 5 red balls and add 3 blue blocks later, the red balls are used up first because they were there longer.
Like a Snack Line
Imagine your class is getting snacks. The kids who lined up first get their snack first, even if someone else came later but wanted to go ahead. That's how FIFO works with inventory too!
So, FIFO keeps things fair and simple, like a line at the park or a snack time!
Examples
- A bakery uses the first batch of flour it bought to make bread, not the last one.
- Imagine a toy store that sells toys in the order they were received.
- Your lunchbox is filled with snacks in the order you packed them.
