Fertilization is when a sperm meets an egg, and together they start making a new person.
Imagine you have two special balls, one is tiny and fast (that's the sperm), and the other is bigger and cozy (that's the egg). The tiny, fast ball needs to find its way into the bigger, cozy ball. It travels through a long tube, like swimming in a pool to reach the other side.
Once it gets inside, it joins with the bigger ball. Now they're one, and that new joined ball is like a special package with all the instructions needed to build a whole new person, just like how you grow from being a baby to being big and strong.
How They Join Together
The sperm has some special tools inside it, kind of like a key. It uses those tools to unlock the egg, so they can join together. When they join, they share their stuff, little pieces called genes that help decide things like eye color or whether you’ll be tall or short.
It’s like when two friends bring snacks to share, now both of them have more fun and more food!
Examples
- A sperm meets an egg like a couple meeting at a party, and together they start a new family.
- Imagine the sperm is a tiny swimmer looking for the egg to join in a big hug.
