Women are often paid less than men for doing similar work because of long-standing habits and unfair treatment.
Why It Happens
How It Keeps Going
Sometimes, people don’t even notice this unfairness. If someone is used to getting more money, they might not think it's wrong, just like how you might not mind getting less candy if your friend always gets more. This can make the habit stick around for a long time.
It’s also harder for women to ask for raises or promotions because people sometimes think women are less serious about their work than men. It’s like being told, “You don’t need as much candy, you’re already happy!” when you’ve been working just as hard.
But with more people noticing and speaking up, things can start to change!
