How It Works
In some places, like a classroom where the teacher picks who leads the game, a president is chosen by someone else, maybe another group of grown-ups.
In other places, everyone gets to pick their leader, just like when you and your friends all vote on which game to play next. That’s called democracy.
Sometimes leaders stay in charge for a long time, like when the kid who starts the game doesn’t want to stop, but sometimes new kids get to take over.
Each country has its own special rules, just like each toy box can have different rules on how you pick who plays and what games are allowed. That’s why some countries feel more like democracies, others feel like monarchies or dictatorships, all different ways of playing with the same big toy box!
