Some countries have population densities that are so wild, it’s like comparing a crowded bus to an empty park.
Imagine you're playing with blocks. If you put all your blocks in one tiny box, that's like a country with a very high population density, lots of people living in a small space. Now imagine spreading those same blocks out over the whole floor, that’s like a country with a very low population density, where people live far apart.
Some countries are super crowded
Other countries are like big empty playgrounds
Now think about Australia. It’s huge, but there aren’t that many people. It's like having a giant playground with only a few kids playing, lots of space and not so many people around.
So even though some places have crazy population densities, they all work because people find ways to live together or spread out, just like you do when you play with your toys!
Examples
- A tiny island with thousands of people packed like sardines in a can
- A huge country almost completely empty, with only a few scattered towns
- People living in skyscrapers because there's no room for houses
