Color is how our eyes and brain work together to tell us what things look like.
How Our Eyes See Color
Our eyes have special cells called cones that help us see color. Think of cones like little helpers on a playground, each one has a favorite color they’re best at catching. There are three main kinds: red, green, and blue. When light hits something, it sends signals to our brain through these cone helpers.
How Our Brain Mixes Colors
Our brain is like a clever artist who mixes paints. If red and green cones say “I see you,” the brain might mix them into yellow, just like mixing red and green paint makes yellow. That’s how we can see so many colors even though there are only three main cone types!
Why Colors Change
When light changes, our cones get busy sending new messages to the brain. Like when a red apple is in sunlight or under a blue lamp, it might look different because of the light around it. It’s like how your favorite toy looks brighter in daylight than in a dark room.
So color is just our eyes and brain working together, using special helpers and smart mixing, no magic needed!
