How Does Chapter 1 - How a Clock Works Work?

A clock works by counting time using parts that move together like steps in a dance.

How the Clock Counts

Imagine you have a toy train that goes click every second. Inside a clock, there are tiny gears, like wheels inside a toy car, that turn one after another. When the first gear turns, it makes the next one go, and so on, just like your train. This helps the clock count seconds, then minutes, and finally hours.

How the Clock Shows Time

At the top of the clock, there's a hand, like an arrow, that moves around a circle. Every time the gears turn 60 times (which takes one minute), the hand moves a little bit forward. After 60 minutes, it goes all the way around and shows the new hour.

It’s like when you count your steps while walking: each step is a second, and after many steps, you know how long you've been walking, just like the clock knows how much time has passed!
