How Does Butterfly: A Life | National Geographic Work?

Butterfly: A Life | National Geographic is like watching a tiny friend grow up from a sleepy baby to a colorful dancer.

From Egg to Caterpillar

A butterfly starts life as an egg, which is as small as a pinhead. This egg is hidden on a leaf, and after some time, a little caterpillar comes out. A caterpillar eats a lot, it’s like a tiny vacuum cleaner for leaves! It keeps growing bigger and bigger until it's ready to change.

From Caterpillar to Butterfly

When the caterpillar is full grown, it makes a special cocoon around itself, like wrapping up in a cozy blanket. Inside the cocoon, the caterpillar changes, its body turns into wings and becomes a butterfly! After some time, the butterfly comes out of the cocoon and starts flying.

Flying and Finding Love

Now the butterfly is all grown up. It flies from flower to flower, drinking nectar like juice from a fruit. When it’s ready, it finds another butterfly to dance with, and that's how new butterflies are born!
