What Are Burns?
Burns are like little injuries on your skin that can be caused by heat, fire, or even some chemicals. They come in different levels:
- First-degree burns are like a sunburn, your skin is red and hurts.
- Second-degree burns feel like blisters, it's like when you get too close to the oven and your skin gets bubbly.
- Third-degree burns are deeper, they might look white or black, like when you burn your hand on a hot pan for too long.
How Do We Treat Burns?
Treating burns is like giving your skin a cool drink after it's been in the sun. For little burns, we use cold water to soothe them. It’s like putting your burned finger under the tap, it feels amazing!
If the burn is bigger or deeper, doctors might use special bandages or even give you medicine. Think of it like wrapping a boo-boo with a soft bandage so it can heal.
Sometimes, if the skin is really hurt, they might need to help it grow back, just like how your body helps your knee heal after a fall!
Examples
- Second-degree burns blister and take weeks to heal.
