Bacteria split into two equal parts, just like a tiny clone party!
Imagine you have a bacteria, which is like a super small living toy that can grow and multiply. When it's time to make more of itself, it starts copying its inside parts, kind of like when you copy your homework so you have two identical copies.
Copying Time
The bacteria makes an exact copy of all its stuff, think of it as making a twin who has the same toys, clothes, and even the same favorite song. This is called binary fission, bi means "two" and fission means "splitting".
Splitting Party
Once the inside parts are copied, the bacteria starts to split in two, like a balloon that's been filled with air and then popped in half. Now you have two bacteria, each with all the same stuff as the original. It’s like having one toy turn into two identical toys!
This happens really fast, and it helps bacteria grow big, strong, and lots of them, just by splitting!
Examples
- A bacteria splits into two identical bacteria, like a tiny creature making a copy of itself.
- Imagine a single bacterium growing bigger and then splitting in half to make two new ones.
- Bacteria multiply by dividing themselves into two equal parts.
