How Does Bacteria (Updated) Work?

Bacteria are tiny helpers that live almost everywhere and can do things like clean up messes or make food taste better.

Imagine you have a tiny robot that lives on your skin, this is like a bacterium. These little robots don’t need big machines; they use their own special tools to work. Some of them eat dirt, some help you digest food, and others can even make you sick if they’re not happy.

How Bacteria Work

Bacteria have special ways to grow and do their jobs. They can copy themselves by splitting in two, it’s like when you share a toy with a friend, and both of you get the same thing. This is called reproduction.

Sometimes bacteria work together, like a team playing a game. If they’re on your skin and something yucky comes along, they can join forces to push it out or eat it up, this is called working together.

Bacteria also love to change, when they find a new place to live, they might pick up new tools to help them survive. This is like learning new tricks at recess!
