Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are ways to make your world feel like it has more stuff in it, or even a whole new one!
Augmented Reality is like having a toy that shows you extra things on your phone screen, right where you're looking. Imagine you’re playing with your favorite dinosaur toy, and suddenly, a giant T-Rex appears on the floor next to it, that’s AR! It uses your phone or special glasses to show extra images or videos in the real world.
Virtual Reality, on the other hand, is like stepping into a completely different room. You put on a VR headset, and poof, you're not in your living room anymore; you’re inside a spaceship or swimming with dolphins! It uses special glasses that block out the real world and show you a whole new one, all around you.
How They Work
AR uses cameras and sensors to know where you are looking, so it can place things right in front of you. VR blocks your view and shows you a brand-new world, like watching 3D movies that wrap around you!
Both use technology to make your imagination feel real!
Examples
- Seeing a dog appear on your kitchen table using a smartphone.
- Putting on glasses to walk through a fantasy world.
- Trying on virtual clothes before buying them.
