A volcano erupts when hot, melted rock (called lava) inside the Earth pushes its way out through a hole in the ground. It's like when you open a pressure cooker, all that steam and food burst out! The lava, gas, and ash shoot up to form an eruption. Sometimes it’s just a small puff, other times it’s a big explosion that covers everything with fire and smoke.
Examples
- A volcano erupts like a shaken soda bottle when it’s opened.
